HeArt & Soul: The Harlem Renaissance Experience

Project type

Experience

Date

February 2025

Location

Winter Park Library

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, as part of its annual HeART & Soul program, the Winter Park Library partnered with Open Scene to bring The Harlem Renaissance Experience to life. Attendees explored eight immersive stations throughout the first floor: The Mirror (celebrating icons like Josephine Baker and Duke Ellington), The Faces (showcasing a continuous documentary), The Look (featuring a curated vintage fashion exhibit), The Paints (displaying artwork from notable Harlem Renaissance artists), The Words (highlighting influential poets such as Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston), Art Exhibition (connecting past and present through contemporary works), The Music (live jazz in the Stairwell Rotunda), and The Flavors (culinary delights courtesy of Eight Heaven Food Truck). This interactive journey offered guests a vivid glimpse into the era’s lasting cultural impact and enduring legacy.

OpenScene is a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; all donations are tax-deductible.
