OpenScene Commitment to Openness and  Access

We strive to create a welcoming and user-friendly experience for everyone who visits our website, going beyond the guidelines of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1998.

OUR COMMITMENT

At Open Scene, we are dedicated to making our website welcoming and accessible to all visitors, following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. These guidelines help ensure that web content is usable for individuals with disabilities, compatible with assistive technologies, and intuitive for all users.

WCAG has three levels of accessibility (A, AA, and AAA), and we have set our goal to achieve Level AA accessibility across our website.

WHAT WE'VE DONE

We have worked diligently to improve our website’s accessibility by conducting both manual and automated testing to meet Level AA standards.

The following sections of the website have been included in our efforts:

  • Home

  • About

  • FLAE

  • Escena Abierta

  • Events

  • Open Zine

  • Previous Seasons

  • Show OS Love

  • Cool Stuff

  • Contact

  • Blog

  • Welcome Statement

We conducted manual testing using assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, alongside automated testing tools to enhance usability.

THIRD-PARTY CONTENT

We recognize that some third-party content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines. We are actively working with vendors to improve access in the following areas:

  • YouTube – Ensuring captions are enabled for all videos.

  • Social Media Widgets – Working to enhance compatibility with screen readers.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

We are committed to regularly monitoring and enhancing the accessibility of our website to provide the best possible experience for all visitors. If you encounter any accessibility issues or barriers, we encourage you to reach out.

South Arts Logo

We’re thrilled to announce that Open Scene has been awarded a micro accessibility grant!

Thanks to South Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, this grant has enabled us to introduce AI-powered live translations during our events, breaking down language barriers in real time. With this innovative feature, even more people can fully engage and immerse themselves in everything Open Scene offers.

At Open Scene, we’re proud to foster an environment where creativity thrives, and inclusivity remains at the heart of everything we do.
