Criteria for Acceptance of Works and Steps to Participate in the 5th Edition of Open Scene's Latin Festival of Performing Arts (FLAE):

01

Theatrical works produced in Spanish are encouraged. However, productions in other languages or those without spoken words—such as dance, dance-theater, physical theater, or mixed media—will be considered only if at least 60% of the production team is of Latin or Ibero-American descent. The production team includes performers, technical and creative staff, authors, and directors.

03

Both published and unpublished works are accepted. Previously released, awarded, or publicly read works—whether staged or not—will also be considered.

05

A resume for each participant in the creative process—playwright, director, and producer—must also be included.

02

The work must be between 45 and 120 minutes long. Plays may be presented either in person or streamed online. Works selected for streaming must include a talkback with the production team and audience at the end. Preference will be given to live productions.

04

For evaluation purposes, interested parties must submit the complete script, an uncut video of the production, a video of a rehearsal, or a detailed description if the work has not yet been produced. Submissions must be received by April 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

06

Open Scene will evaluate submissions in the order they are received, prioritizing those that align with the production possibilities within the framework of the FLAE.

The groups selected to participate in Open Scene’s FLAE, both digitally and in person, will receive financial compensation, with details to be shared upon selection.

Those interested in participating should submit the required materials to info@openscene.org. For any questions, feel free to contact us at the same email or via DM on Instagram (@openscene_org).

We welcome theater companies from Florida and beyond. Open Scene does not discriminate based on gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, language, or any other factor.

🎭 This is an open stage—everyone is welcome!

APPLICATION WINDOW FOR THE 4TH EDITION CLOSED ON FEBRUARY 4, 2024, at 11:59 pm EASTERN TIME
