About the event

Join us for the third edition of Songs from the Hispanic Diaspora, an intimate evening where poetry and contemporary music come together to explore exile, displacement, memory, and the fragile beauty of belonging.

Presented by Open Scene, the Central Florida Composers Forum (CF2), Musiva, and Timucua Arts Foundation, this unique collaboration features seven world premiere musical compositions inspired by the work of some of the most influential poets of the Spanish-speaking world.

Carefully curated by Open Scene Founder and Executive Director Thamara Bejarano, the program journeys through the literary traditions of the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Uruguay. Each newly commissioned work is paired with bilingual poetry readings, creating an immersive experience where language, music, and storytelling transcend borders.

Performed by an exceptional ensemble of Central Florida musicians, the evening invites audiences to discover how contemporary composers reinterpret timeless poetry, transforming words into sound while celebrating the cultural richness…
