This is Salem is the deconstruction of the classic play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, in an original proposal by the Venezuelan director and playwright Andreína Polidor, with the production of Teatro de la Penumbra from Caracas, Venezuela, and presented for the first time in the United States exclusively for this edition of the FLAE. According to Polidor: "The decomposition of some themes taken from Miller's piece is the premise for composing This is Salem. Topics such as power, education as a system of control, indoctrination, witchcraft, totalitarianism, persecution, and destruction are taken to the maximum of their meaning until the meaning of these words is deconfigured, achieving multiple meanings, which allow trips in time, political and social analogies of the present with metaphors of the past."
