La Cantante vuelve | Escena Abierta II at Orlando Fringe

For its second appearance at Orlando Fringe, Open Scene presented La Cantante vuelve, the winning play of the Escena Abierta II Playwriting Contest. Written by Abraham Rodríguez Hanze, directed and adapted by Kelly Sánchez, and performed by Abigaíl Laboy, the monologue draws on the voices and memories of exile to explore migration, belonging, and the pull of the places left behind. Music associated with Olga Guillot, Celia Cruz, and Gloria Estefan, together with live guitar by Andrés Guzmán, shaped the production’s musical landscape.
