Create Dangerously | Forum with Edwidge Danticat

Co-organized by Open Scene and the Haitian American Art Network, Create Dangerously brought artists and audiences together to examine how migration, displacement, race, and cultural memory shape artistic practice. Held September 4, 2024, at the Art & History Museums of Maitland, the forum centered the experiences of Black and Latin immigrant artists and featured a keynote by Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat, with contributions from artists including Patrick Noze. The program created a space for dialogue on identity, resilience, and the risks involved in making art across borders and communities.
